Young UERM Alumni Travel Grant Award

     The UERMMMC Alumni Association, MARVADC Chapter is awarding two (2) $500 Travel Grant Awards to two (2) young alumni to attend the UERM 2010 Alumni Reunion and Convention in Newport Beach, California on July 1-4, 2010.  Funding for lodging and travel expenses within the contiguous United States will be included (up to a $500 limit for each winner). The intention of these Awards is to encourage young UERM medical alumni and medical school students doing their clinical rotations in the USA to participate in our annual alumni activities and share their clinical/research studies during the CME portion of the Convention Meeting on Friday, July 2, 2010.
Eligibility criteria:

  1. He/she must be an alumnus of the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center (UERMMMC).    3rd/4th year medical students doing his/her clinical rotations in the USA may also apply.
  2. The alumnus should be in medical school, clinical residency, clinical fellowship, pre-doctoral or postdoctoral research fellowship or with definite plans of pursuing training in the USA. A letter from the program director or a letter of intent should accompany the application.
  3. The alumnus will submit a 100 – 250 word proposal /abstract which the applicant is willing to present during the CME portion of the Meeting.  Acceptable submissions will include basic, clinical, behavioral researches, case presentations, clinical narratives, program in developments, etc.  The deadline for all proposals/abstracts is on April 30, 2010, 12 midnight EST.  Award recipients will be announced on May 15, 2010.

Dr. Pia Velasco ‘04, a 2nd year resident in Dermatology at UERMMMC.  “Case Discussion on Lymphoma Cutis”.  Presented by Drs. Claire Natividad ‘04 and Consuelo Clavecillas ‘04.
Drs. Therese Esagani-Elises ‘04, Paola Mendoza ‘04, and Adrian Velasquez ’04. “Survey of UERM Graduates Entering US Residency Programs, 2006-2007”.  Dr. Esagani-Elises is a Family Medicine Intern at University of Illinois, Rockford, IL; Dr. Paola Mendoza is a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Intern at East Carolina University, Greenville, NC, and Dr. Adrian Velasquez is an Internal Medicine Intern at Carney Hospital, Dorchester, MA.
